Keep Your Car’s Interior Cool With AC Maintenance

If your car’s AC is barely working or not working at all, you are going to be extremely miserable until fall comes. Willoughby Hills Auto Repair can maintain your AC system annually to make certain it runs efficiently and effectively all summer long. If it has been over a year since you’ve had the AC serviced, call our shop right away to schedule an appointment.

Compressor

One of the first things we will do when we service your vehicle’s air conditioner is inspect and test the compressor to make certain that it is working properly. The compressor takes the refrigerant gas and turns it into a liquid. It also circulates the liquid through the air conditioning system. A faulty compressor can make hot air blow through the vents and into the passenger cabin.

Condenser

The refrigerant heats up as it circulates through the air conditioning system. As such, the system has a condenser that uses outside air and a fan to cool off the refrigerant. In order to utilize the outside air, the condenser is located directly behind the grille. Unfortunately, this can leave the condenser clogged and damaged by road debris. We will inspect the condenser.

Condenser Fan

We will also test the condenser fan to make sure that it runs every time you turn on the air conditioning system. Without the fan, the refrigerant’s temperature will not be reduced and you will end up with warm or hot air blowing through the vents. If either the condenser or the condenser fan needs to be replaced, we will do so to restore the refreshing air.

Electrical System

We will also inspect the electrical system. Problems with the electrical system can result in malfunctioning AC parts, including the condenser fan. We will check the wiring, the relays, and all other electrical system parts to make sure they are in excellent condition and producing and distributing electricity as they should be. If anything needs to be replaced, we will replace it.

Refrigerant

Finally, the air conditioner cannot produce cold air without enough refrigerant in the system. The air conditioning system can lose refrigerant through evaporation or leaks. As such, we will check the refrigerant level to make sure it is full. If it is low, we will test the system for leaks that need to be repaired. Once repaired, we will add refrigerant to the system.

Even though fall is just around the corner, it’s not too late for an air conditioning inspection, so call Willoughby Hills Auto Repair in Willoughby Hills, OH, today.
